Landon Metz’s practice revolves around the activity of painting, yet also incorporates sculpture, sound and performance. Using dye on unprimed canvas, Metz explores the inherent properties of both materials, as each develop autonomously, following his initial application. Working horizontally, the perimeters set by the artist see the pigment merge with the fibres of the plane to create organic, flowing forms. As a result, his technique shifts the focus from a specific gesture towards an overall experience of form, colour and hue.
