Maps have continued to provide a potent source material for many years.
About
They provide attempts to make sense of a world that is ever in transformation, whether in terms of physical manifestations such as valleys, rivers and canyons; or blurred or contested borders, betraying evidence of conflict, resistance, negotiation and power.
For others, maps serve to support a sense of identity or an engagement with a specific time and place. Maps can be used to communicate a myriad of information. However, the focus for this exhibition will be on land, sea and air, bringing together bodies of work by artists that are varied in approach and whose works span a period of over forty years. Together, they reflect on the personal, the poetic and the political.
