About

Made in the Marches is an independent gallery based in the market town of Kington, Herefordshire dedicated to showcasing works by makers based along the borders of Herefordshire and Wales.

Land into Art is a specially curated exhibition by resident artist, Rebecca Finney. Riffing off the title of the seminal book by Kenneth Clarke, 'Landscape into Art', Rebecca has selected works by artists working across different disciplines to create a visual essay demonstrating how the inspiration sourced from the land can be creatively translated in a variety of ways. 

Showing artefacts in different media: paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, photography, textile alongside sketchbooks and documentation; presenting finished articles and processes that underpin them. Including: a collection of Richard Bavin's  watercolour & oil paintings made during his residency with Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, Katherine Owen's project capturing drawings by trees, Rebecca Reynold's enchanting night-time photographs of Hergest Ridge, Siwan Gillick's striking abstract landscapes of the Golden Valley, Ruth Zuleika Cameron-Swan's wearable landscape art, Rebecca Finney's aerial view paintings, Ambrose Burne's forged steel Ferroseed sculptures and more.

 During October, the exhibition will be used as a hub for Big Draw activities.
