About
Ian Hoskin started this series back in 1980 and rediscovered them in a negative file a couple of years ago. His interest in the original idea of illustrating the way society stereotypes gender was rekindled. He started work again, adding text, and taking many more photographs, in fact only a few of the original images made it into the final series.
As well as highlighting some of the most common and deeply ingrained stereotypical attitudes held by and about males and females, Hoskin also manages to include some visual humour, making this series both engaging and though-provoking.
