Multidisciplinary artists Dominique Duroseau, Luis Flores, and María Jose, in conversation with guest curator Elia Alba, will be discussing how issues of race, gender, and sexuality inflect their artistic practices.
About
Hear from La Trienal artists Dominique Duroseau, Luis Flores, and María Jose in a conversation, moderated by Guest Curator Elia Alba, centered on the topic of representation. Working in different artistic modes including photography, installation and sculpture, and performance, the artists will each consider how issues of race, gender, and sexuality inflect their practices. Together, they will also consider how the role of exhibitions such as ESTAMOS BIEN – LA TRIENAL 20/21impact representation, as well as how they use their art to navigate, challenge, and operate within various institutional, communal, and alternative spaces.
MORE ABOUT ESTAMOS BIEN - LA TRIENAL
El Museo del Barrio presents ESTAMOS BIEN – LA TRIENAL 20/21, the museum’s first national large-scale survey of Latinx contemporary art featuring more than 40 artists from across the United States and Puerto Rico. Originally planned for Fall 2020, the show has been reconceived and expanded as a yearlong initiative, the exhibition debuts summer 2020 with online projects followed by an onsite exhibition in Las Galerías (Galleries) opening Spring 2021. Related public programs featuring curators, artists, invited scholars and other guests will take place throughout the year.
