The Long Road of Sand brings together works and documentary materials that explore the visual imagery of the tourist industry and its infrastructures within the Italian peninsula

About

On 23 September 2017 at 6.30 pm, LOCALEDUE presents La Lunga Strada di Sabbia, a project exhibition that collects works by Marco Casella, Luca Coclite, Mimi Enna, Melania Fusco, Stefania Galegati Shines, curated by Pleasant Journeys into Faraway Lands. Pleasant Journeys into Faraway Land is a curatorial research project and transdisciplinary platform that aims to investigate the intersection between the tourism and the art world, looking both at the reciprocal characteristics of fruition, circulation, consumption, production and evaluation. It develops in independent chapters: this first chapter, titled The Long Road, brings together works and documentary materials that explore the visual imagery of the tourist industry and its infrastructures within the Italian peninsula, seen both as a symbol and a means for economic and progress, which literally connect the Mezzogiorno with the rest of the country and Europe. The long sandy road will be open until October 13th by appointment only. PLEASANT JOURNEY INTO FARAWAY LANDS is a project by Claudia Gangemi with the support of the Art Department of Goldsmiths, University of London.
