Taking inspiration from the 2000s television show, The L Word, 'L Word(s)' is a multidisciplinary exhibition showcasing the ways in which queer identifying artists navigate their queerness within their artistic practices.
About
The inspiration for the exhibition came from Niamh (@glimmronthehorzncallinmelswhr) and Orla's (orla.toland) mutual love for The L Word and their initial bonding over their struggles with lesbianism and lacking social belonging.
Having both felt that there was little lesbian representation within the gallery sphere, they sought to open up a conversation and connection onto others with the hopes of generating the voice that they are in search for. But... What does 'L' Stand for?
With the curatorial support of Mavournreen Dooley (@angelofbread) we are using letter 'L' as a motif to start discussions and evolve insight. Each artist was challenged to designate an 'L' word to their artwork(s). The result of which is a spectrum of what it means to be queer. From 'Lust' to 'Luck' and odes to queer media, we welcome you into our L oasis. Please join us from 8th July, we will hold a private view on 10th July 6-9pm
