French Artist Bruno Cavellec Holds Solo Show at Gallery150

About

French artist Bruno Cavellec will be holding ‘L' incomplétude' exhibition at Gallery150, from 15th — 27th of March, 2011. Award winner of the Rugby Open for two consecutive years, this self-taught artist explores the intimacy of his own personal experiences, expressed in the form of semi-abstract landscapes, which are not so much a mere depiction of unspoilt stretches of land, but rather a mirror or an echo of the artist's thoughts and feelings. Often depicting solitary figures, the works convey both the existential struggle of mankind and the intensity and weight that these thoughts often bear for us, while simultaneously evoking a sense of man's minuteness and vulnerability when faced with the boundless mysteries of the natural realm. Cavellec, who has also illustrated the CD cover and booklet for the Scott Matthews album ‘Elsewhere', often uses his own spiritual response to music as inspiration for his work, which can also be interpreted as a metaphor for psychological states of mind. From dramatically moody to light and airy, Cavellec, who greatly admires the works of Caspar David Friedrich and Edvard Munch, powerfully depicts the ‘seen' and ‘unseen', compelling the viewer to reflect upon their own interior world and existence. At Gallery150, the painter and printmaker will be showcasing a fascinating and haunting series of large and small format oil and soil paintings and drypoint works. More of the artist's works can be viewed at www.brunocavellec.com. The exhibition, which will be running from 15th -27th of March 2011, is open Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 6pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
