As a native of the Austrian Tirol, Klaus Wagger enjoys painting, skiing and life in general in that great part of the world. After a degree in industrial design, Klaus pursued a successful freelance career, mainly in technical illustration for companies such as VW, Ford, Siemens, and KTM. However, his heart always lay elsewhere – in capturing the magic of late twenty’s to early seventy’s motor racing on canvas.
About
Klaus Wagger
It was a period that started with the car shaking off the shackles of the horse-drawn carriage and developed into a spectacle of some of the most exciting automobiles everseen.
With a lot of diversity in the shapes and drivers visibly wrestling their cars, Klaus found himself developing a much more emotional approach to painting his subjects in bold colors, something he feels unable to achieve with much of the modern metal, due also to the fact, that drama more often now unfolds hidden from view in high tech development rather than on the track.
His breakthrough opportunity of turning a lifelong passion into a fullyfledged career came with winning the competition for the 2000 Mille Miglia Poster and being accepted as a member by the French association, Artist Auto.
Today he can be seen at many of the prestigious classic car events across Europe, exhibiting regularly at shows like Retromobile, Techno Classica, the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival among others.
As well as painting his dream cars he regularly accepts private and corporate commissions (e.g. MG Car Club, Silverstone 2005 Carabinieri Calendar, Italy 2006 Daytona 500 2007 - not exactly vintage but still great fun- and Ennstal Classic from 2009.)
