Gordon Robichaux is excited to announce KIOSK’s return to the US with FLASH BACK FLASH FORWARD, their first exhibition in New York since their immersive installation at MoMA/PS1 in the 2015 edition of Greater New York.
About
The exhibition will feature an installation of KIOSK's iconic neon sculptures—“a large neon cloud”—of glowing light and color and a curated display of objects gathered specifically for the exhibition and offered for sale. FLASH BACK FLASH FORWARD will be a site of exchange through direct interaction and conversation with KIOSK founders Alisa Grifo and Marco ter Haar Romeny who will be present in the gallery during the course of the show.KIOSK, Alisa Grifo (born 1969, New Jersey) and Marco ter Haar Romeny (born 1974, Stockholm), live and work in Stockholm, Provence, and New York City. Their combined backgrounds cover a diverse number of areas ranging from Art History to Applied Physics. Together they created the public project KIOSK in 2005. Since then, the project has taken a variety of forms in different environments, most notably as a physical and online store. Included in Greater New York at MoMA PS1 in 2015, their collection of 1,300 objects was presented in an installation they fabricated on-site for the exhibition. The 2,000-square-feet, immersive exhibition included a handmade display for the objects, an audio guide, and site-specific neon sculptures. In 2019, KIOSK opened an exhibition space in the Unite d’ Habitation in Marseille, France, a historic building of magnitude created by Le Corbusier during a time of great social change.
