About
Exhibition of works by internationally acclaimed artist Charles Newington- Paintings, drawings and prints from recent projects and adventures
Together with sought after small bronze figures by distinguished sculptor Frank magnus-Hirshfield
Charles is best known for the stunning giant chalk-cut hill figure on the North Downs at Folkestone - a unique stylised white horse now adopted as an icon for the region. Pigeon-holing Charles is impossible - a diverse career over 40 years is proof. Water colourist, painter, printmaker and book illustrator: all of these roles have shaped an ever changing, constantly fresh approach to his work and many examples are included in this notable exhibition.
Charles has teamed up with his old friend Frank magus-Hirshfield, who will be displaying a collection of his distinctive and highly collectible small bronze figures – some dating back to the 1960’s when Frank was a close associate of Lucien Freud in Paris.
Oil&Water Contemporary Art Gallery is to be found in Old York Road, Wandsworth Town - just to the South of Wandsworth Bridge and close to the Alma pub. It is easily accessible by British Rail from Waterloo and Clapham Junction, or by changing via the Victoria Line at Vauxhall. Buses 28 and 44 stop almost outside.
