Riverside Art & Glass is proud to announce a three-week exhibition showcasing the work of prolific North Norfolk artist Kevin Turton.

About

From 13th April to 3rd May Kevin Turton will be having an exhibition at Riverside Art & Glass.

Kevin began painting part-time whilst working as a Graphic Designer in North Wales in 1999 and visitors will see a collection of works depicting the Welsh landscape. In North Wales Kevin began mixing transparent acrylic paint into resin to create paintings that interpreted the hard landscape around him whilst focusing on the three main elements of rock, light and water.

Kevin relocated to North Norfolk in 2007 to paint full-time. Here Kevin began experimenting with acrylic pastes and gels, moving away from painting on block to painting contemporary abstracted landscapes on canvas. Kevin explains: ‘I focus on the relationship between the elements of surface texture, light and water, the vast beaches, marshes and estuaries here (in Norfolk) being my main source of inspiration’.

From his recently established base in Gran Canaria Kevin has begun interpreting the famous Maspalomas Dunes and beach with its mix of black volcanic and white Saharan sand. Kevin says: ‘I have always been drawn to arid desert landscapes but also like to be near the sea. With the dramatic mountain terrain leading up into the centre, the island lives up to its reputation as a continent in miniature – providing plenty of inspirations for future paintings!’

A Retrospective of Reinventions and Relocations will feature a selection of Kevin’s paintings from North Wales, North Norfolk and Gran Canaria. Kevin will also be hosting an artist talk describing his reinventions and relocations on Monday 16 April at 6pm. Persons interested in attending the talk can find out more by contacting dani@riversideartandglass.co.uk.

Riverside Art & Glass is open Monday to Saturday 9.30 am to 5.30 pm, and Sunday 11 am to 4 pm. There is ample free parking, free admission, and an extensive selection of art and glass on display in the gallery.

Riverside Art & Glass is at: 24 Norwich Road, Wroxham, NR12 8RX | 01603 784000 | info@riversideartandglass.co.uk.
