About

Keith has also been a prolific portrait painter, having produced many special commissions for the show business world. This has extended into book illustration.

Keith’s main subject matter is portraiture and figure subjects. After many years of working in an illustrative way, his work has become more painterly in style. His paintings are characteristically large, often featuring figures in interesting, perhaps work environments. Many such works have drawn inspiration from local craft and industry such as Glass making and Chain making, and have been featured in numerous Midland exhibitions.

“I find human subjects to be the most interesting, in terms of both simple portraiture and full length figure paintings in interesting environments. After years of working in an illustrative way, I am now exploring painting using a looser, more open ended approach. I work from life as a main resource but often develop detail from photographic reference”.

Keith is a full member of the RBSA, the Easel Club and Dudley Society of Artists. He is also an Ex-President of the Birmingham Art Circle.
