As part of Light Night Nottingham 2017, Arts & Crafts at Malt Cross presents a new solo show by Katrina Cowling made up of newly commissioned installations that will take over our gallery space. The exhibition will run from 10th Feburary to 26th March.

About

Specialising in neon lighting, Katrina Cowling creates evocative installations made up of minimal forms that challenge and push the medium. Neon lighting, a medium that is notoriously fragile and difficult to work with, is also beguiling in its ability to transform a space as a light source.

Delicate, linear gestures electrified with light will punctuate the Henderson Gallery, suspended in space as well as meticulously inlaid into ceramic casts of rock formations and boulders. Slick aesthetics and highly finished materials will be combined with traditional crafts and obscure production methods to create ambiguous, atmospheric spaces.

In 2014 the Malt Cross received Heritage Lottery Funding to open a below ground workshop and gallery to support artists and makers and provide opportunities for the general public to learn more about Arts & Crafts.
