Katja Loher is changing the face of video art by choosing to present her works as organic sculptural forms, or Videosculptures, in lieu of a flat rect­angular screen. Loher’s nearly seamless fusion of the technological with the organic reflects the digital world of magic she creates. Each Videosculptureaddresses ecological urgencies, such as the plight of pollinators, abuses of technology, and the future of humanity, while simultaneously drawing attention to the intrinsic beauty of the life sus­taining processes that support our planet. 

The videos are the product of a collaborative efforts between the creative talents of architects, design­ers, poets, composers, glass blowers, and performers who, under the creative direction of Loher, work to animate the imagined world of the artist. While Loher proposes questions in her works, she does not offer answers- that task is left to the viewer who will emerge from her Miniverse inspired by a renewed appreciation for the splendor and complexity of nature and the desire to preserve its beauty for genera­tions to come.

A graduate of the Fine Art Academy in Basel, Switzerland, Katja Loher is an internationally recognized artist based in New York. Her work has been featured in exhibitions throughout Asia, Europe, South America and the United States, in such venues as: Upper House, Hong Kong, China; Photosphere New Delhi, In­dia; Nou le Morne, Mauritius; Swiss Embassy New Delhi, India; Core Club, New York; Bruce Museum, Greenwich, CT; C24 Gallery, NY; NBMAA, New Britain, CT; TelFair Museum, Savannah, Georgia; World Expo Museum, Shanghai, China; Figge Art Museum, Davenport, Iowa; MuBE, Museu Brasileiro da Escultura, São Paulo, Brazil; Venice Architecture Biennale, Venice, Italy; MAXXI Museum, Rome, Italy; Gallery Andres Thalmann, Zurich; United Nations Pavilion, Shanghai Expo, China; Biennale Chongqing, China; Siggraph Asia, Yokohama, Japan; Art Digital, Moscow, Russia and the State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia. In 2016, Loher was the winner of the competition for the Art and Architecture Project at Swissgrid’s new head office in Aarau, Switzerland, and she has received several awards including TPC CreaTVty Award from the Swiss TV Production Center, as well as a num­ber of distinguished artist residencies in Kolkata, New York, Berlin and Beijing. Loher’s work can be found in numerous private and public collections, including: La Roche, Basel, Switzerland; Credit Suisse Collection, Zurich, Switzerland; 21C Museum, KT; Figge Art Museum, Davenport, IA; Pérez Art Museum, Miami, FL; eN Arts Collection, Tokyo, Japan and Horsecross Collection, Perth, UK. Recently, Loher’s work has been commissioned for large scale Art and Architecture projects by Related Group/Jorge Perez at SLS Hotel, Miami, FL, and Oasis VIP Lounge, at Bogota Airport, Colombia.
