Katherine Gilmartin is exhibiting her oil paintings on canvas and watercolour illustrations. For the artist, creating artwork means finding a voice and gaining ownership of it. She uses eyeballs and teeth, flesh and monsters and uncovers their subtle vulnerability.
Katherine is interested in the interplay between internal thoughts and external tissue, innocence and sexuality. Her inspiration comes from exploring the edges of what she is capable of, what she gives out is a fraction of a story, a narrative that is personal.
