Kate has been going to life drawing at Dean Clough for years and has produced huge stacks of water colour studies of the models, many of whom she got to know well. As well as the model she has worked on including the whole life room and all participants in these studies. Recently she integrated life drawing into the other part of my her practice which is working with textile and stitching. In these works Kate also wanted to consider the oddness of the whole experience of the life room – many clothed people staring at one naked person – where is the borderline between art and eroticism – does it lie in the gaze or the product?
