Using art to create social change
About
IMA Studio is pleased to invite Ibrahim Ahmed, aka Kashmirwala; an artist utilising his practice to affect social change and build communities. His current exhibition, Journey to the Blue City, is both a document of a self-initiated and self-reflective journey in Morocco, and a chronological document of a chance encounter with a teenage calisthenic community in the streets of Casablanca.
Working professionally as a commercial designer and animator, Ibrahim’s route to being an artist has been non-traditional. His interest lies in people and his photography is used as a way to open dialogues and tell the stories of the people he met.
The event will begin with a talk by Kashmirwala, taking us through his journey of searching for a purpose as a creative being. This will be followed by an open conversation, and round table discussion between Kashmirwala, IMA studio, and the audience on thoughts inspired by the talk.
We welcome all who are interested in using art to create social change, as well as those wanting to contribute their experience as a creative individual.
