Karsten Thormaehlen's photographic work sensitively explores the demographic and sociocultural effects of ageing societies. For more than a decade he has been taking portraits of centenarians around the world, which have been honored with a range of prizes in leading creativity and photography competitions. His solo & group exhibitions have been shown in museums such as the Fotomuseum Winterthur and London's National Portrait Gallery, and are represented in private and institutional collections. His work inspired the World Health Organization (WHO) to launch a campaign against age discrimination.
