About
With his unmistakable handwriting, with colored felt-tip pens and watercolor, highly alert, concentrated and with a light hand, Holtz casts sharp glances at contemporary affairs and at the same time deeper into history, warning against arrogance, complacency and presumption. Punch, doll and crocodile as the classical actors of the puppet show compete against the grotesquely horrible arsenal of screamers, gathered arsonists, ghosts and gas masks dancing the tango. Even the devil is not missing when hitting, stabbing, pricking, trampling and kicking. "On the one hand, my pictures are bitterly serious, on the other hand, they are absolutely laughable," says Holtz. Meanwhile, children who experience the world in a completely different way are spreading confidence and humor. For example, a toddler sitting on the edge of a meadow surrounded by a fence: a recurring logo and signature of the artist at the same time.
