JW Anderson New Talent Photography Exhibition opens to the general public in London.
Following 1813 global submissions from new talent, an extensive judging process, and a final focus on approximately 50 participants / 200 images for the exhibition of judged work, the end is in sight to find a new imagemaker for JW Anderson’s next campaign. That person will also be named on the 18th May.
The launch of the JW Anderson campaign for Spring-Summer 2018 was at once a celebration of the brand’s idiosyncratic point of view as well as a clarion call for new talent. Forgoing fashion imagery entirely and designed by M/M Paris, the campaign itself functioned as an advertising space for future imagery and image-makers declaring:
‘Your Picture / Our Future.’ On the 18th May, some of those that answered the call can be seen exhibited for the first time. It is also the date that the person who will photograph JW Anderson’s next campaign, for Autumn-Winter 2018, will be announced.
With an aim to galvanise a new generation of image-makers aged 18-30, to reveal many of them to the general public, as well as helping one of them further develop a distinct voice in the forthcoming campaign, the YOUR PICTURE / OUR FUTURE project takes one of its most important steps with the gallery exhibition.
Giving free rein to Jonathan Anderson’s curatorial interests and approach, the exhibition of submissions will showcase a diverse range of photography, full of surprise and substance. It is hoped that a new wave of talent will be both launched and encouraged by this presentation.
