Rodger’s paintings are meditations of colour, line and form. They evoke presence and immersion. Her skills with brush and composition bring us moments of quiet and stillness. They convey peace and, even in the squabbling of the jackdaws, harmony.
Rodger denies a political content to her work and in an overt sense that is so. But she is passionate about Scotland and her own life is testimony to a refusal to conform to expectation. She has never been driven by fashion or populism. Her work has the integrity of the painter who loves their craft, has found their subject and finds joy in combining the two.
Just A Moment is an exhibition of what Rodger describes as a lifetime of moments. The beautiful, the inconsequential, the colourful, the dramatic and the relationships that are only a moment in time but which describe a life.
Just A Moment encourages you to stop and take stock, attribute value and acknowledge that which actually enriches us.
