Spacex has commissioned artists Juneau Projects to build a temporary pavilion at Exeter Quay that will be both an artwork and venue. A showcase for creative production the space will host evolving exhibitions, a shop and programme of public events.
About
Spacex presents Makers of the Multiverse a large-scale temporary public realm commission by Birmingham based artist duo, Juneau Projects (Philip Duckworth and Ben Sadler). The project extends the artists engagement with the role of distribution, pricing and accessibility of art works and aims to propose alternatives to more traditional ‘art world’ gallery systems and hierarchies. The project will culminate with the construction of a temporary pavilion at Exeter Quay. The structure will be an artwork in its self and will be open to the public 13 May – 10 June.
Juneau Projects have been working with students, artists and community groups to create content for the 4 week programme. As well as editions such as prints and artist books contributors will look at how skill sharing and performance based work can be shared and valued in the same way.
Visitors will be able to see an ever- evolving exhibition, buy affordable artworks and take part in activities that include boat trips, performances and workshops.
