Juliette Losq's hauntingly beautiful watercolours transport the viewer to the neglected borders between disused urban environments and the encroaching countryside.
About
The artist explores the fear and fascination of the unknown by describing a city's 'borderlands'. Here the unkempt gives way to the illicit and beauty emerges in bright lettering and tangled growth.
Juliette Losq achieved an MA at the Courtauld Institute of Art, before studying painting at Wimbledon College of Art. Afterwards she took a PG Dip in Fine Art from the Royal Academy Schools. In 2005 Losq won the Jerwood Drawing Prize and she was a finalist for the Catlin Art Prize in 2011. Losq was also awarded the Visitors' Choice Award at the prestigious John Moores Painting Prize in 2014.
