About

Painter Julie Roberts is interested in themes such as dream and reality, sleep and death, the historical and the temporal. These give her work a depth and richness that place her in a tradition stretching back to classical antiquity, although more immediate is an affinity with the work of Francis Bacon and Lucien Freud, as well as with the surrealist movement.
