Jugovic works through various media including paintings, constructions and installations that investigate the relationship between the two-dimensional and three-dimensional experience of objects and structures. Concentrating on elements such as colour, line, scale and perspective Jugovic employs visual illusion to re-imagine familiar objects and imagery. His use of drawing and photography is a way of developing sculptural forms from architecture and geometric abstractions.
For his two month summer residency at Motorcade/Flash Parade, Jugovic will be using the space as a studio to develop ideas around topography and architecture, leading towards a site-specific work for exhibition.
I have an interest in the space that surrounds us, including how we define and map it, and attempt to work in relation to this, I look to use materials that echo these observations. For example, I have used materials that convey a sense of concealing space - i.e. Sterling-board, which boards up derelict buildings.
