The Waste Land is a major work of twentieth century literature, written by T.S. Eliot in the aftermath of World War One.

About

Journeys with ‘The Waste Land’ explores the contemporary significance of T.S. Eliot’s seminal poem and the way it has resonated with artists over the years.

The works selected for exhibition have been researched by a group of volunteers and include historical and contemporary works by artists including Peter Blake, Cecil Collins, Jacob Epstein, Elisabeth Frink and J.M.W. Turner. The exhibition is led by curator Michael Tooby and organised by the Mead Gallery in collaboration with Turner Contemporary in Margate, the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum in Coventry and Coventry Cathedral.

An extensive programme of events has been organised alongside the exhibition, including a performed reading of The Waste Land as part of the opening celebrations.
