Journeys Festival International Portsmouth
19 Oct 2017 – 29 Oct 2017
Journeys Festival International
Leicester, United Kingdom
Journeys Festival International, in collaboration with Aspex, introduces new work from Portsmouth based artists, Natalia Michalska and Majid Dhana.
Over the past two months, Dhana and Michalska have worked with members of the Portsmouth refugee community to formulate a series of creative portraits, installed across the city’s skyline for the duration of the festival.
These vibrant portraits depict refugees and asylum seekers, incorporating their favourite Portsmouth landmarks, as well as original poetry created with participants of collaborative workshops. The works were created whilst the artists undertook a residency at Aspex.
Part of Journeys Festival International, Look Up is an outdoor exhibition installed on the exterior of prominent buildings around the city. Look Up provides a unique opportunity for artists engaging with refugee and asylum seeker themes to have their work shown in one of the most visible strands of Journeys Festival International.
You can find this exhibition in our Learning Space.
Journeys Festival International, Portsmouth takes place from 19 - 29 October 2017.
