A recurring theme in Josephine Bacon's work is that of the duality of constraint and eroticism where items of female underwear often become emblems of sexuality or domination.
This new work explores notions of sex and pornography through looking at popular perversion/bondage imagery of women as well as archive objects of barbaric female oppression.
The undergarment has mutated into a device at once erotic and repressive, at times flaunted in glamour-model pose but more often as a lone object both sinister and sexual.
