New abstract paintings by John Brokenshire, following his walk along the Camino
About
John Brokenshire’s ethereal and dream-like abstracts are driven by the artist’s inspiration he finds in landscape. This most recent work has resulted from his 500 kilometre walk on the Camino last year. This walk through a diverse landscape of rugged mountains at high altitude, endless plains and gnarly vineyards has provided him with imagery, and an experience, to filter into his wonderfully atmospheric paintings.
John undertook this walk to help fundraise for his three-year-old great nephew. Sebastian was born with cerebral palsy and spasticity in his legs and required specialist spinal surgery which thankfully was successful. Sebastian can now stand and walk himself.
John's work has been regularly exhibited by the Curwen Gallery since 1995, after discovering him through our selection for our annual Northern Graduates exhibitions. He lives and works in Sheffield.
