About
The Anthropomofoscene in an improvisational realm where found paper ephemera, fetishised mechanics and crude assemblages of consumer electronics gather and interact under the watchful eye of a so called artist.
Sculptural supports lift found objects out of the gloom of their everyday use. Taking something proposed as a contemporary categorical device and humorously processing it through a self deprecating eye, twisting and sculpting it to see if the result bares fruits for thought.
Evans questions the act of buying as an artistic medium. Online industrial purchasing holes are sifted through as hyper window shopping is encrypted into the art. We are presented with a look into the effect of being bombarded with information and disintegrating as a result. Material overload is examined as a way to access the intuitive in the art making process or as a plunge into psychic anxiety.
Joe Evans (b.1985) is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Bristol, he received a BFA from the University of the West of England in 2009.
