About
Joe has been selected for this spotlight exhibition from a range of makers who exhibited at Manchester Metropolitan University Graduate show, 2018. His work was chosen as not only is it high in quality, but innovative in terms of the techniques used.
Joe’s practice is centred around material and process experimentation. Direct contact with materials and exploring various processes has allowed him to build an understanding of their properties and limitations, which in turn allows for an innovative and experimental approach designing and making.
Recent projects have seen Joe experiment with mould blown glass, with research into the relationship between digital and analogue processes influencing his practice. Applying his experimental approach to the mould making process has seen Joe use digital CNC technology in the Poly Vase project as well as producing intricate welded steel moulds for the Forced Form Vase series.
