Join us for a celebration of light and colour in a new exhibition by artist Joanne Tyler.
About
The large-scale light design, co-created with local residents, features translucent layers of colour, print and glass. It responds to the Bauhaus model by creating a bridge between the fine and the applied arts, breaking boundaries between distinct disciplines such as performance, visual art and dance. As part of the exhibition, audiences are invited to create, design and perform in their own immersive experience.
The work on display is the outcome of a series of workshops led by the artist for Redbridge residents that took place during the summer. Tyler explains her approach to this kind of collaborative working: “I think that for it to be a really invigorating experience for participants and the resultant audience/witness, it has to have a finely fashioned and high-quality product at the end of it, too. In other words, it needs to take participants into new and uncharted territory and give them a reason to feel uplifted by the work that is produced, as well as the experience of making things together.”
