Three completely new series of foil works by contemporary artist Joanne Tinker.
About
Joanne Tinker’s latest works all repurpose chocolate foil. A snapshot of the artist's palette via current trends in advertising, her fascination for this bright and colourful material began as a passion project, and has since evolved into a formidable and sustainable creative practice. A self-professed ‘magpie’ trained as a silversmith and jewellery artist, Tinker has committed herself to the process of collecting things we would normally throw away and embracing them as treasure.
Organised according to gold adjacents with pink or green accents, these new works lend a fresh, contemporary and abstract feel to 19th century French Chemist Chevreul’s spectrum of shades. They are both a time capsule in colour form, and a portrait of how people view her. When asked how she picks her colours, she notes: "it depends on what comes in!" Every foil is recycled, given to her by friends and followers from all sources.
