About

In Forest, Hanzlová photographed the forest next to her childhood village near the Carpathian mountains, transforming the empty, wooded landscape into a symbol of memory and loss. Widely exhibited in European institutions including the Barbican Centre, the Scottish National Galleries and the Folkwang Museum, Essen, this the first time Forest has been exhibited in the United States.
