Jeremiah Day’s performances bring together different mediums and modes of address, integrating photographic projections, movement, narrative and song.

About

Through this assemblage, we encounter family histories linked with national ones, and the abstract ideas of citizenship become exemplified in concrete sites and episodes: monuments, battle-fields, town-meeting halls and their denizens.

Day’s performance practice emerged through working with Simone Forti and her moving-speaking improvisational work. In particular with her News Animations, Forti establishes a way to approach content and subject matter that avoids illustration or didacticism - an embodied reportage form that opens up with the public accompanying in a shared unfolding.

Since 2008, Day and Forti, usually joined by Fred Dewey as a kind of ‘Trio’, have worked together extensively, including an evening at the Emily Harvey Foundation in 2010. For this evening Forti will contribute a reading of her written work as a counter-point to Day’s performance.
