About

www.jennapallio.com

Jenna Pallio, nata nel 1976 nel Bronx, New York, consegue Bachelor e Master of Art alla New York University.

Jenna Pallio, b.1976 in the Bronx, New York received her Bachelors and Masters degrees of Art from New York University.  Jenna has exhibited her work in both solo and group shows in the United States and Europe and has participated in several international artistic residencies abroad. She lives and works in Milan where she has resided for the past 12 years.

In her most recent exhibition, The Textures of Time, the artist has created a series of works using a watercolor on photograph technique. The works begin with photographs, namely textures of walls, roads, fabrics and various other surfaces. The photographed textures are then printed on photo paper and covered with watercolor paint. The images are created by cleaning away the surface of the paint using cotton tools and water. As the image itself comes into view, the elements of the surface beneath is revealed. The artist has been exploring the notion of memory and nostalgia in her work for years. Her process of cleaning away the surface is significant to the way our memories resurface into our lives, and certain details appear in clarity while others meerly fade away.  The photographed surfaces and images the artist chooses to represent are taken from imagery of her life between the two countries of America and Italy. The artist combines imagery and textures from her past and present to create a world that transcends time and physical space to focus on the emotional esoteric nature of memory.
