An online exhibition exploring Jean Fautrier's (1898 Paris - 1964 Chatenay-Malabry) printed oeuvre.
About
Jean Fautrier was an alchemist of painting and printmaking. It could be argued that his far-reaching experimental printmaking informed his oeuvre as a painter. His prints celebrate obsessive layering and an incisive line that often cuts right through the underlying ground.
The prints we present are of exceptional provenance. Either they are printer’s proofs from the collection of Jacques David or from the descendants of Fautrier’s publisher and dealer, Michel Couturier, Paris. The impressions are excellent in quality and state of preservation.
