Half-hidden rainbow colors, tonal subtleties and a mesmerizing diversity of line." The New York Times on Jasper Johns: Regrets, MoMA"

About

Don't miss this display of major new works by Jasper Johns, one of the world's greatest living artists. Regrets is a haunting series of ten paintings and drawings inspired by an old photograph of Lucian Freud posing in Francis Bacon's London studio. Johns transformed the image by copying, mirroring and doubling it. Unexpectedly, the form of a skull emerged in his new composition, like an apparition. Johns and reworked the subject in a variety of media, creating works that can be experienced as a profound meditation on mortality, creativity and memory. This exhibition is based upon one originally organised by The Museum of Modern Art, New York
