Artist and master printmaker Sara Lee will introduce you to Japanese Woodcut Printmaking from preparing your drawing, handling and using the block -cutting tools, mixing coloured inks and printing multiple block prints.
About
This course will explore the unique and subtle qualities of the Japanese ukiyo-e printmaking from its history to the final image. Sara will also demonstate simple multi-block registration and the basic principles of editioning a print.
This is a water based, relief method of printmaking that requires no press and is easily set up with a few simple tools in your home or studio. The cutting techniques learned on this course will be very useful for those using the conventional Western woodcut tradition.
The course is individually tailored and therefore suitable for beginners and for those with experience of the technique. You will receive individual and group tuition.
