About

The HEPSIBAH GALLERY is delighted to welcome back the artist Janet Milnes to the Gallery

Janet Milnes  - Artist’s Statement

I am returning to the Hepsibah Gallery from 18- 24th May.  Along with originals I will also be exhibiting giclée art prints of my work.

I am an abstract colourist.  My aim is to create bold images that grasp the imagination and excite, in compositions with a “twist”.  I invite my viewers to explore a range of subjects, moving from the more or less familiar to the quirky and unexpected.  Working in pastels and mixed media, combined with collage enables me to be as free and adventurous as I want.  Sometimes precise and meticulously defined, sometimes naïve, sometimes abandoned.  I outline, mould, scrape, drag or layer as my subject and intention dictate.  I find inspiration in the malleability of my media, a highly coloured palette and the combination of varied, sometimes unexpected materials to create striking effects.

Some client reactions:

“Bold use of colour and dramatic composition is a signature of her work”.

“Exciting and full or energy.  Janet has an incredible ability to use colour and form in such a way that it grasps the imagination.”

“Such original colour work. The choice of colours somehow makes me really think about each subject, as though there is a little lesson in perception in each.”
