Whatever your reason for visiting, whether it’s to network with local creatives, talk to artists about how they work, to build your art collection, or to see inside this unique and wonderful working space, Open Studios is an unmissable event this June in Bristol.

About

Open Studios is a very special occasion. It’s a chance to venture into our historic and beautiful building, and to meet all the artists working here.

Jamaica Street Studios has a renewed momentum this year. We have just signed a new 5-year lease, securing the collective’s place in the rapidly-changing Stokes Croft area of Bristol. This is the 22nd annual Open Studios, and we are very pleased to be here to stay.

Along with this we have a number of new artists at the studio, some emerging creative talent, and some well established. Our new faces include sculptor Dorcas Casey, who creates uncanny dreamlike life-size sculptures of animals, and Max Malone, a collage artist working with billboard posters and other found materials.

The event begins with our opening party on Friday 19 June, 7-10pm. Join us for a drink and to soak up the atmosphere of the studios at night. We’ll have live music and DJs along with all the art!

We continue on Saturday and Sunday, when you can explore the building at your leisure, visiting each studio and meeting our artists. Throughout the weekend, we will have demonstrations and workshops by our studio artists in their studios.

The event concludes with our now legendary mini-canvas auction. Each studio artist contributes a piece of work to the sale to raise money to run the Studio. It’s a great way to pick up an affordable piece by your favourite artist. Come prepared to bid up!

Jamaica Street Artists is a collective of about 40 artists, working in the beating heart of Stokes Croft, Bristol. The group is a unique and ambitious collective, with members exhibiting, collaborating and working both nationally and worldwide. JSA has been established for over 20 years and the studio is housed in a grade II listed former carriageworks, an iconic landmark in Bristol.
