For the first solo show of an upcoming miniseries of presentations taking place at Tower, guest artist Jakob Schieche uses different media to approach the topic of reality as imitation and creation.
Using contemporary design technologies, today’s game developers produce a seemingly authentic simulation of perception. If selected sequences played by the artist in his film ‘the drifters’ are conceived a source of this simulation, the origin of virtual spaces is experienced as a fantasy of the ego.
The artworks on display are connected by a supposedly absurd expectation that completeness is potentially possible, but then prevented due to technological deficiency. A fantasy, which will first be fulfilled as the artist gives impossible scenarios a shape and platform.
