Jacqueline Leighton Boyce presents a showcase of narrative hand-built ceramics inspired by the organic landscapes of Exmoor.

About

Through drawing inspiration from immediate landscape rather than research, Jacqueline’s work is uncomplicated and intended to simply portray love for this particular environment. The work is fairly personal and solitary, displaying a simple and sometimes romantic narrative taken from regularly walking in and around Exmoor.

Crucial to Jacqueline’s work is that the audience is clear of the roots, process and materials used in their creation, by allowing the clay to show itself she demonstrates rawness and the immediacy from which it is created.

Working as an earthenware ceramist the works are made predominantly using red terracotta clay. Layers of colours and illustrations are created using slips, underglazes, glazes and lustres, which creates a uniquely hand-crafted aesthetic.
