Stafford Gallery are privileged to present our fifth exhibition in association with Wimbledon Fine Art in Wimbledon Village by the highly regarded Scottish painter Jack Morrocco.
About
In both his traditional still life and landscape paintings Jack Morrocco
is drawn to the effects of light whether reflections on silver
and water or dappled light, ideas that interested him as a
student 45 years ago. Portraiture formed the basis of his early
work and John Singer Sargent was his major influence, Jack
was fascinated by Sargent’s technique of making a single
brushstroke accurately describe the subject; Vermeer, he
has long admired for the serenity and tranquillity imbued
into his paintings; Caravaggio for the dramatic use of light
and composition. Most people viewing Jack’s studio still
life paintings for the first time reference Picasso and indeed
Jack has always admired his work, the quantity, the scale,
his technical ability and the sheer genius of inventiveness,
Jack feels that Picasso was the greatest force in 20th Century
art, and an artist that he returns to for inspiration.
Jack is always in demand for solo exhibitions north and
south of the border and his paintings are collected worldwide.
This new exhibition includes the sparkling and hot
destinations of Barcelona, Valencia, Palma de Majorca, Lisbon, Cannes,
Rome, St Tropez and Paris. Works have been completed in the last year
and the exhibition covers all genres of his painting; landscape,
still life and studio still life. Please join us at the PV and
enjoy an exciting journey to many favourite destinations in
the company of the artist.
