About
It's What You Make Of IT seeks to reinterpret objects drawn from the ILEA Camberwell Collection, with a curatorial approach that values radicalism alongside story-telling. Gallery visitors are invited to discover untold narratives that go beyond the object’s outward appearance. Audience members are encouraged to select one of four interpreted pathways, which reveal the object’s biographies.
This is the first group show curated by Chelsea College of Arts’ MA Curating and Collections programme. Encouraged by a research-based practice, the exhibition approaches issues such as national identity, colonisation, religion and play culture. It attempts to reanimate the historic Camberwell ILEA Collection. As a resource, the collection was originally used in London secondary schools for the purpose of design education.
