Exhibition of Italian Pop Art
About
The gallery’s second group exhibition will show a different side of the artistic panorama of Post-War Italy. Featuring the works of Mimmo Rotella, Valerio Adami, Tano Festa, Mario Schifano and others, the show will demonstrate how artists played with the aesthetics of American Pop within the Italian cultural context. Mass culture and high culture met in a unique blend in Italy, as artists such as Tano Festa used Pop aesthetics to re-popularize Renaissance masterpieces, while Mimmo Rotella used posters to elevate Italian cinema.
