About
Isabelle Menin refers to her work as ‘disordered landscapes’, created by the accumulation of layer upon layer of source material; whether it images found or taken by her hand. Those layers are then constantly played with – pushing and pulling the composition – by adjusting the transparency and opacity and altering the textures and colours. Within that context, she also aims to create work that expresses basic human emotion and reflects on her perceptions of life but at the same time are both vibrant and rich.
Menin’s work is painterly in nature, which can be attributed to her background as a painter and her experience as a graphic designer and illustrator. Her intelligent use of colour, shape and form allows her to create cohesive photographs which resonate with elegance and drama and are more than merely floral in nature.
Her work has been exhibited internationally: San Francisco, New York, Berlin, Paris, Italy and China.
