Studio Sarai presents 'IN-VISIBLE' and exhibition of new and recent work by multi-disciplinary artist Sarai van de Boel and new works by photographer Arie van 't Riet

About

‘In-Visible’ is an exhibition of work by artist Sarai van de Boel and x-ray photo specialist, physicist Arie van ’t Riet. The exhibition focuses on the artists’ shared interested in x-ray technology and the interior analysis. Van‘t Riet focuses on organic matter and van de Boel’s focus on capturing the interior of inorganic subject matter.

Best known for his x-ray photography, Arie van ’t Riet will present never before seen works that explore his fasci- nation with nature, interior analysis and new technology in conjunction to traditional print making techniques. This revolutionary ‘Toyobo’ printing method refers to the technical photo transference process that Arie has adopted as a means to deviate from as well as integrate traditional photography and printmaking ideologies. The result are subtle tonal prints of animals and plants with many di erent shades of grey.

For the purpose of this exhibition, Sarai van de Boel will present her x-ray photographic light boxes. Using low emittance x-ray technology, van de Boel reveals to the viewer an internal analysis of her sculptural works. What is intriguing about her process is the juxtaposition of the very realistic sculptural exterior to the inanimate interior, which would usually not be exposed to the viewer. The x-ray photographs deliver a surprisingly graphic image.
