Inventory is a new art book fair at Cromwell Place, surveying the current moment in the expanded publishing landscape, running from 7-9 June 2024.

About

Inventory is a new art book fair at Cromwell Place, surveying the current moment in the expanded publishing landscape, running from 7-9 June 2024. Featuring a book market, reading room, and a rich programme of events, Inventory emphasises interdisciplinary, collaborative, and non-profit forms of publishing. It aims to research the agency of the artist's publication and the capacities of the artist-led press. This inaugural weekend welcomes over 60 established presses, occasional publishers, zinesters, and newcomers experimenting with print. Inventory is also eager to hear from artists and presses who have been absent from fairs for some time and are interested in sharing their archives.

The fair opens with a celebratory evening on Thursday, 6 June, from 6 - 8 pm, featuring performances that underscore intersections between publishing, performance, architecture, and voice. Ibrahim Azab will perform "EV3RY(TH1NG’5)MOV1NG: BUT_I’M(STILL)H3RE," a site-specific piece exploring ideology and the subconscious through movement and audience interaction. Folium will present "Sometimes Making Nothing Leads to Something," an homage to Francis Alÿs’ "Paradox of Praxis 1," inviting spectators to participate in graphite rubbings, culminating in a live-printed collaborative publication. Rose Nordin will also present performative interventions, followed by a drinks reception.

The fair closes with an immersive evening of performances on Sunday, 9 June, from 5 - 8 pm, drawing connections between the written word, sound, projection, moving image, and psychedelia. Jessica Higgins will perform "you over there in the trojan horse," a spoken word and sound collage about a fictional monologue. Raheel Kahn & Amrit Randhawa will present a collaborative piece combining archival video with a live sound piece, tracing the genealogy of British Asian music. The evening will conclude with musical sets from Ghostlore of Britain and Sanctuary of Praise, offering unique explorations of memory and landscape. Join us for Inventory, where the printed form transcends its traditional boundaries, celebrating artist publishing in all its multifaceted glory.
